Adult orthopaedics

Orthopaedic Evaluation, Treatments and Surgery

After the evaluation of each patient, the appropriate treatments such as evaluation, medication, injections, arthroscopy, arthroplasty are applied to treat the musculoskeletal problems.

Dealing with a variety of acute and chronic problems of the adult musculoskeletal system, such as:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Tendon diseases
  • Sprains
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Control and monitoring of osteoporosis
  • Fractures - dislocations, reduction, conservative or surgical treatment and follow-up.

Dr. Sotiriadi Vlachou has performed more than 1000 adult orthopaedic surgeries: 500 total arthroplasties and 500 fracture osteosynthesis surgeries.

Injectable Treatments

Injectable treatments are performed in the doctor's office by appointment. The injections are performed accurately and offer immediate relief and effectiveness.

Patient preparation: usually a few minutes

Pain during treatment: Imperceptible

Treatment time: 30-60 minutes, depending on the patient and the condition

Post-treatment activities: NO activity restrictions

  • Hyaluronic acid treatment

What is it: Hyaluronic acid is an anionic, non-sulfated glycosaminoglycan that is broken down into connective epithelial and nerve tissues.

When to apply: Intra-articular infusion is the treatment of choice in some forms of osteoarthritis (knee, shoulder, polygonometacarp).

The result: It helps improve the patient's pain and tingling symptoms. It is also successfully used in tendon diseases and muscle injuries.

  • PRP treatment

What is it: Injectable plasma therapy (PRP platelet rich plasma) is a modern, innovative, minimally invasive treatment.

When to use: Applies to a variety of orthopaedic conditions such as osteoarthritis, tendonitis and muscle injuries.

The result: Provides improvement of mobility, analgesia and healing with results from the moment of infusion and maximum improvement in 6 weeks that is maintained in the long run, depending on the patient and the disease.

  • Collagen therapy

What it is: Collagen is a group of fibrous proteins found in all animals that give extensible strength to connective tissues. Mammals have about 20 different collagen genes that encode their different forms. Collagen is the main protein in bones, tendons and skin.

Therefore, collagen injection therapy is a specialized solution in the quiver of the experienced orthopaedic surgeon for a variety of diseases.

When to use: Applied to back pain, neck pain, tendon diseases and muscle injuries.

The result: It offers analgesia and a quick return to patients' pre-injury activities.

Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy

What is Arthroscopy?

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique for diagnosing and treating joint problems. During the arthroscopic surgery, a camera is inserted into the joint and the inside of the joint is displayed on the screen.

During the operation, the inside of the joint is repaired without making a large incision. Because the arthroscope and surgical instruments are thin, your surgeon uses very small incisions and this results in less pain for the patients, less joint stiffness and often reduces the time it takes for the patient to recover and return to work.

The joints to which arthroscopy is usually applied are: Knee, Shoulder, Elbow, Ankle, Hip, Wrist.

Arthroplasty

What is arthroplasty?

Arthroplasty is the surgical rebuilding or replacement of a joint, usually to relieve arthritis or correct an abnormality.

One of the most common arthroplasties is total knee arthroplasty which is knee replacement surgery that can help relieve pain and restore function in severely diseased knee joints. The procedure involves cutting away damaged bone and cartilage from your thighbone, shinbone and kneecap and replacing it with an artificial joint (prosthesis) made of metal alloys, high-grade plastics and polymers.

The most common reason for knee replacement surgery is to relieve the severe pain caused by osteoarthritis. People who need knee replacement surgery usually have problems walking, climbing stairs, getting up and sitting in a chair. For most people, knee replacement provides pain relief, improved mobility and a better quality of life. Most knee replacements are expected to last more than 15 years.

Arthroplasty as a total joint replacement surgery is applied to:

  • Knee joint
  • Shoulder joint
  • Hip joint
  • Total Knee arthroplasty
  • Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
  • Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
